About Me:
A San Diego State (BA in Psychology and Philosophy) and University of Southern California (Master’s in Social Work) alumni, I have now been a resident of the Bay Area for the last 10 years. As a mom of two young kids, I can personally relate to how one’s family life can take us through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Outside of being a parent, I love to do all things arts and crafts, hike and eat ice cream.
I am passionate about supporting family life because it defines who we are—both as children within a family and as adults building our own families. I hope to assist in creating a family dynamic that brings out the best in itself and, by extension, in you.
My Experience:
For over 10 years, I have centered my practice around working with families of all ages, focusing particularly on those with teenagers and providing parent coaching. With a background rooted in community-based therapy, I have delivered therapy directly to families in their homes, offering support during high-conflict moments as they unfold. This hands-on experience allows me to vividly conceptualize a client or families explanations of challenging situations and conversations, especially in the context of telehealth sessions.
I bring additional experience and expertise in school-based therapy, providing me with a deep understanding of the school system. My work extends to supporting high-conflict family dynamics, including families with neurodiverse loved ones, individuals dealing with depression, teens transitioning into young adulthood, anxiety, suicidal or self-harming thoughts or actions, and those navigating social challenges.
My Approach:
I provide a supportive, therapeutic environment for individuals, families, couples, or any significant person in your life where the guidance of a therapist can enhance your understanding of the relationship. My approach is characterized by openness, directness, empathy, and honesty.
I enjoy deep conversations and seek to foster understanding and common ground among all parties involved, whether collectively or individually.
While drawing from various theories and philosophies, my primary approach involves a relational perspective, coupled with education on Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) skills to address thought and emotional management. Additionally, I advocate for the use of Non-Violet Communications (OFNR), offering a clear script for expressing grievances among family members and loved ones.
